Beanstalk.Global had the pleasure of partnering with Sky News to film and photograph on location at the proposed site of the Rivenhall Greenhouse Project – an ambitious, climate-smart initiative led by Oasthouse Ventures Ltd.
Located on previously quarried land in Bradwell, just east of Braintree in Essex, this pioneering 40-hectare site represents the future of sustainable UK horticulture. The project is being developed in partnership with Indaver, whose neighbouring Integrated Waste Management Facility will provide the greenhouse with low-carbon heat and CO₂ – turning waste into growth.

In our exclusive footage, Ed Moorhouse of Oasthouse shares the vision behind the project and what it means for British food resilience and circular economy innovation. We were also joined on-site by Gareth Jones of Indaver and Alice Porter of Sky News.

Once operational, the Rivenhall Greenhouse Project will:
- Create 420 full-time and 80 part-time jobs
- Inject £300 million into the Braintree economy over the next 20 years
- Contribute £600,000/year to local agricultural supply chains
- Produce over 28,000 tonnes of tomatoes annually, offsetting 7.1% of UK tomato imports
- Recycle waste heat and carbon emissions from nearby infrastructure for sustainable food production
This is bold, future-focused horticulture that redefines how we grow food in the UK. It’s a blueprint that could be replicated across the country – with major environmental, economic, and nutritional benefits.
