Along the way, we’ll document the stories of farmers, producers, and innovators who are shaping Portugal’s reputation for exceptional food and drink.

Why Portugal?

Portugal’s vibrant agricultural sector is a treasure trove of inspiration. Its world-class fresh produce—from juicy oranges and sweet strawberries to hearty potatoes and flavourful peppers — it is renowned for its quality and sustainability. Portuguese exports of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamental plants reached a record of €2.3bn in 2023, an increase of 11.4 per cent compared to 2022, according to Portugal Fresh. By showcasing these products and the people behind them, we aim to shine a light on Portugal’s thriving agri-food sector while celebrating the cultural richness that comes with it. Combined with the deep-rooted connections between the likes of the UK and a number of key businesses having fresh produce investments in country, the connections between both countries run deep within the fresh food sectors.

Our trip will blend the art of storytelling through film and photography to promote fresh produce to the trade and to the consumer. Highlights will include:

Proven Background

Our Editor-in-Chief, Max MacGillivray, previously embarked on an incredible journey riding a Triumph motorbike from London to Cape Town, traveling through 18 countries and covering over 18,000 kilometers. His adventure was a unique and successful effort to promote agricultural and fresh produce, attracting more than 250,000 real-time followers. After completing the trip, Max spoke at numerous schools to share his experiences and promote fresh produce, and also performed at Chris Evans’ CarFest. In recognition of his efforts, he was honored with a Points of Light Award from the UK Prime Minister for his work in promoting fresh produce.
