The fresh-produce sector is under growing pressure to be transparent, accountable, and forward-looking in how it communicates sustainability. Kelechi Ndudi-Okoro, a doctoral researcher at the University of Northampton is exploring how fresh-fruit companies with supply chains linked to Africa disclose, report, and communicate their CSR/ESG commitments to stakeholders.
This research is not evaluating or assessing the impact of companies sustainability activities. Instead, it focuses on their disclosure practices, how companies share their sustainability story, what they choose to report, the frameworks they use, and the challenges and opportunities that come with communicating complex African-origin supply chains.
She is looking to engage with UK and European importers, exporters, growers, packers, vertically integrated producers, and marketing organisations sourcing fruit from African countries. Whether your company publishes detailed reports, short statements, website disclosures, or integrated ESG communications – your company’s experience is invaluable.
Participation involves a single 45–60-minute interview with a senior colleague involved in sustainability reporting, ethical trade communication, supply-chain transparency, or corporate affairs. Companies may remain anonymous if preferred.
Why participate?
Because different companies’ perspectives helps build much-needed academic insight into how the sector communicates sustainability and ethical sourcing, a topic gaining significant attention from retailers, regulators, investors, and consumers. Your company’s contribution will support a clearer, more practical understanding of disclosure challenges and best practices within African-origin supply chains.
