With a 20+ year career working at a senior level across all stages of the supply chain – literally from field to fork, this individual has worked in farm management, retail commercial management, (international) supply-chain, general management and as a divisional MD across the primary production, fresh produce, food manufacturing and processing sectors.
Combined with a genuine passion for food & farming, the breadth of his experience allows him to operate with clients on both high-level, strategic assignments and more specific, detailed implementation projects. Having worked with numerous businesses and with a naturally inquisitive and analytic mindset; he knows what both good and bad look like. His most effective approach is to immerse himself within his clients’ business and engage with team members at all levels of seniority – allowing him to ask the right questions to effectively diagnose the inherent barriers within the culture or physical and commercial operations of a business.
Recognising that the food & farming sector faces the biggest challenges in a generation; he chooses to see the seemingly conflicting challenges of increasing output whilst reversing climate change as a massive opportunity for the sector. Factor in record inflation and the impact of international conflict on supply-chains; the immediate future looks rocky. Considerable change is required for businesses to prosper, where those with open minds will succeed and grow.
Having worked recently with clients in the Agri-tech sector, he sees the effective and pragmatic application of technology as one of the main enabling tools of this change. He finds that his unique, broad insight and perspective is particularly useful to emerging technology businesses targeting this sector, where he has successfully facilitated the creation of several collaborative partnerships.
Open to one-off or ongoing, short, or long-term assignments on a project or retained basis with agri-business, agri-food, and agri-tech clients. His experience also proves quite handy through the M&A cultural, commercial, and operational due diligence process; having led post acquisition integration and change projects.
